Xbox auto-detection

Back to the SPHINX guide

XBOX CONSOLE DETECTION

On Xbox, the controller doesn't send the same information as on PlayStation: auto-detection can't rely on the same signals. So the script analyzes the controller's vibrations to recognize the weapon you're holding.

The idea is simple: every weapon makes the controller vibrate in its own way. The script listens for that signature during your spray and automatically applies the right recoil profile.

🎮 HOW DOES IT WORK FOR YOU?

There's nothing to do: fire, and the weapon is recognized. Detection starts on the first round and the profile is applied in a fraction of a second. It restarts with every new spray: if you switch weapons, the profile follows on its own.

❗ IMPORTANT: vibration must be turned on in the game options and set to Standard. Without it, there's no signal to analyze.

WEAPON GROUPS

Some weapons vibrate in exactly the same way: the signal can't tell them apart. Rather than leaving it to chance, these weapons are split into two groups, and you tell the script which one you're carrying.

VIEW + R3: switch between GROUP 1 and GROUP 2. The screen briefly shows 1 or 2.

📝 EXAMPLE: if you're carrying a Devotion and a Flatline, pick GROUP 1. If you pick up a Rampage or a Havoc, one press of VIEW + R3 and everything adapts.

DETECTION GROUPS

Each line pairs two weapons that vibrate the same way:

- Group 1: DEVOTION · Group 2: RAMPAGE - Group 1: NEMESIS · Group 2: RAMPAGE - Group 1: FLATLINE · Group 2: HAVOC (charged) - Group 1: P2020 · Group 2: RE-45 - Group 1: R-99 · Group 2: CAR - Group 1: NULL · Group 2: DEVOTION TURBO

⚠️ WARNING: in GROUP 1, a Rampage will be recognized as a Devotion or a Nemesis. In GROUP 2, a Flatline will be recognized as a Havoc. So pick the group that matches your weapons.

WEAPONS RECOGNIZED IN BOTH GROUPS

These weapons are identified correctly in both groups: you never need VIEW + R3 for them.

- Assault rifles and LMGs: R-301 · SPITFIRE · HEMLOK · HAVOC · L-STAR - SMGs: ALTERNATOR · VOLT · PROWLER - Marksman: G7 SCOUT · 30-30 · TRIPLE - Snipers: KRABER · LONGBOW · SENTINEL · CHARGE RIFLE · WINGMAN - Shotguns: EVA-8 · PEACEKEEPER · MASTIFF · MOZAMBIQUE - Bows: BOCEK

GOOD TO KNOW

- Detection needs a real spray for SMGs (Alternator, Volt, CAR, R-99): a few rounds are rarely enough to tell them apart. When in doubt, the script keeps the previous profile rather than applying the wrong one. - Single-shot weapons (P2020, snipers, shotguns) are recognized from the very first round, no need to empty a mag.

(#ffb547:⚠️ WARNING: a charged Havoc (with the Turbocharger) vibrates exactly like a Flatline. That's why they're in different groups.)

IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG

Vibration-based detection is the result of a long weapon-by-weapon measuring process, and it keeps evolving. If a weapon is regularly misrecognized, if a profile doesn't apply, or if something seems off, however small, report it.

Your feedback is what lets us fine-tune the settings: every reported case is analyzed and fixed in the following updates.

(#35d09a:💡 TIP: mention the weapon involved, what was displayed and under what conditions (long or short spray, selected group, sight used): that's enough to pin down the problem.)

Feel free to share your suggestions too: several of the script's features came from player requests.

Frequently asked questions

How does SPHINX recognize my weapon on Xbox?

On Xbox, the script recognizes the weapon by the way it makes the controller vibrate. There's nothing to do: fire, and the right recoil profile is applied. It follows on its own if you switch weapons.

My weapon isn't detected on Xbox, what should I check?

Vibration must be turned on in the game options and set to Standard: without it, there's no signal to analyze. For SMGs, fire a real spray, a few rounds aren't always enough.

What are weapon groups for?

Some weapons vibrate in exactly the same way. Tell the script the group that matches your weapons: for example, the Flatline is in GROUP 1 and the charged Havoc in GROUP 2.

A weapon is often misrecognized, what should I do?

Report it, giving the weapon, what was displayed and under what conditions: long or short spray, selected group, sight used. Every reported case is analyzed and fixed in the updates.
